Dr.Wang Jun
Wang Jun, born on November 15, 1963, in Huaibin County, Xinyang City, Henan Province, is a thoracic surgery expert and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He currently serves as President of Peking University People's Hospital, Director and Professor of the Department of Thoracic Surgery, Doctoral Supervisor, Chairman of the Science and Technology Association, Director of the Thoracic Surgery and Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery Center, and Director of the Department of Thoracic Surgery at Haidian Hospital in Beijing.

In 1980, he enrolled in the clinical medicine program at Henan Medical University. In 1989, he graduated from Beijing Medical University (now Peking University Health Science Center) with a Master's degree in Surgery. Starting in 1989, he began working as a resident physician in the Department of Thoracic Surgery at Beijing Medical University First Hospital. In 1992, he performed China's first true minimally invasive thoracic surgery, marking the official beginning of minimally invasive techniques in Chinese thoracic surgery. In 1995, he conducted academic exchanges at the University of Washington and the University of Chicago in the United States. In January 1996, Wang Jun successfully completed China's first lung volume reduction surgery for emphysema, pioneering a new field in emphysema surgery in China. In 2006, he first reported "complete thoracoscopic lobectomy with lymph node dissection" at the Chinese Thoracic Surgery Annual Conference. In 2007, he received funding from the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. In 2014, he was honored as an Outstanding National Professional Technical Talent. In 2015, he received both the Wu Jieping-Paul Janssen Award for Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Wu Jieping Medical Innovation Award. In 2017, he became the founding Dean of the Thoracoscopic Surgeon Training College under the Chinese Medical Doctor Association. In 2019, he was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. In 2020, he was appointed as a member of the Academic Divisions of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. In 2022, he assumed the position of President of Peking University People's Hospital.

Throughout his career at the clinical forefront, Wang Jun has conducted extensive research on minimally invasive thoracic surgery and lung cancer treatment. He has pioneered numerous surgical techniques that have long been at the forefront of Chinese thoracic surgery. Through organizing training programs, he has cultivated a large number of medical professionals and developed the lung cancer surgical technique named "Wang's Technique" by The Lancet Oncology. His honors include being named among the Fifth Batch of "Jiusan Model Figures," receiving the 15th Tan Jiazhen Life Science Achievement Award, and earning the Outstanding Performance Award for members of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee.

Dr. Yan Xiang
Associate Chief Physician and Associate Professor. With over 20 years of clinical experience, he was a Visiting Scholar at MD Anderson Cancer Center. He has contributed to multiple professional publications, including National Standardized Training Materials for Clinical Pharmacists (Oncology) and Common Clinical Medical Terminology, and participated in translating works such as MD Anderson Oncology and ESMO Patient Guide for Lung Cancer. He has authored over 30 SCI-indexed papers and specializes in the clinical translation of scientific research achievements.

Dr. Jian Zhou is an Associate Chief Physician and Department Assistant in the Thoracic Surgery Department of Peking University People's Hospital. He holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Medicine from Peking University and completed postdoctoral research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York, USA.

For many years, Dr. Zhou has been dedicated to frontline clinical practice, performing surgeries and outpatient services across multiple campuses of Peking University People's Hospital in Beijing, Qingdao, and Shijiazhuang. While rooted in clinical work, he focuses on addressing critical challenges in thoracic surgery, including intraoperative navigation and prognosis prediction. His innovations include developing novel fluorescence-guided navigation techniques for surgery, identifying high-risk factors for postoperative recurrence in early-stage lung cancer, and achieving breakthroughs in:

Near-infrared fluorescence navigation for tumor localization
Multimodal molecular probe-based tumor imaging
Computer vision-assisted surgical video analysis
Molecular pathology-informed lung cancer prognosis prediction
His work has resulted in multiple patented technologies and established industry standards. He has published over 40 first/corresponding-author papers in prestigious journals including European Journal of Nuclear Medicine, Clinical Cancer Research, The Lancet Regional Health, and European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery. He has led 9 research projects at national, provincial, and institutional levels.
